Installing an SSL certificate on F5 FirePass

Part one: Download and save your certificates

  1. Open the email we sent you, that contains the certificate for your domain.

  2. Copy the certificate, including the ---BEGIN--- and ---END--- strings.

  3. Paste the certificate into a blank document in a text editor. Use an editor that will not add characters, such as TextPad.

  4. Save the document. We recommend that you name it YourDomainName.crt. Save it to the directory of your choice.

    We recommend that you also back up your certificate on another computer or storage device.

  5. Confirm which certificate you purchased, and determine which chain file to download.

    To confirm which certificate you purchased, review your order confirmation.

    • If you purchased SBS Instant, download chain A below.

    • If you purchased SBS Secure or Secure Plus, download chain B below.

  6. Download the certificate chain. To download, right-click each certificate file name and select Save Target As.

    Save the certificate chain to the same directory where you saved the certificate for your domain name.

Part two: Install certificates and key on FirePass

  1. From the Admin's Console, click Server.
  2. Click Security.
  3. Click the Certificates link.
  4. Next to Install/Renew Certificate, click the Install link.
  5. Click the Add new certificate button at the bottom of the screen.
  6. In a text editor, open the certificate for your domain name.
  7. Copy the entire text, including the -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- and -----END CERTIFICATE----- lines.
  8. In the Firepass console's Paste the new certificate in the PEM format (for Apache + mod_ssl) here text box, paste the text of the certificate, including the -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- and -----END CERTIFICATE----- lines.
  9. In the Paste the corresponding cryptographic key in PEM format here box, paste your private key that you previously generated.
  10. If you have placed a pass phase on the certificate request, in the Enter password here box, type your password.
  11. In the Optionally, put your intermediate certificate chain here (in PEM format) box, paste the text of the Intermediate certificate chain.

  12. Click Go!.

    You will be returned to the original SSL Server Certificate install screen and you should see the new certificate that you just installed.
